Outreach

Students participating in Outreach STEM programs

All programs provided by our Center are based on Common Core State Standards and Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOL) guidelines. Most programs are available for Outreach.

The Virginia Air & Space Science Center offers a variety of hands-on programs that make learning about science, technology, engineering, and math more accessible and fun. Our educational programs were created for grades PreK through 8 and are designed to meet the Virginia Standards of Learning, while stimulating students’ interests in the fields of aviation, space, science, and technology. With an ample selection of STEM programs to choose from, there is bound to be one that meets your curriculum needs and will cater to your students’ interests. Our educators are ready to work with your students’ curriculum needs and make their learning experience truly electrifying. Advance reservations are required for educational programming, so request your reservation as early as possible by contacting the Reservations Coordinator.

The rate for an Outreach is $10 per student with a $200 minimum to make a reservation. Please plan on 15 minutes in between rotations for resetting. It is best to have one location for the program and allow students to join by class through the rotations.

An additional charge of $1 per mile will apply if Outreach location exceeds a 30-mile radius from the Center.

Please call 757-727-0900 ext. 780 or email Reservations Coordinator for more information.

Hands-on Learning Programs

Interactive curriculum-enhancing programs and demonstrations teach the basic principles of science, aviation, and space technology. Students are challenged to develop inquiry skills and use hands-on investigation to explore, experiment, and find solutions to scientific problems.
