Membership FAQs

Should I purchase a membership online if I want to utilize my benefits today?

If you wish to utilize membership benefits immediately, or to receive one of the listed discounts on your purchase, your membership must be purchased onsite at the admissions desk, as it takes up to two weeks for processing online memberships.

When will I receive my permanent membership card?

Within two weeks of the date of purchase. Membership cards are mailed to the address provided on your member application. If you join or renew in person, a temporary card and member packet with your discount coupons will be given to you at the time of purchase.

Can I have a card for each named member?

Yes, each adult member will be issued a membership card with their name listed; it will be mailed to the address provided on the membership application.

I am a grandparent, can I add my grandchildren to my membership?

Yes! All of our family level memberships allow up to 4 children or grandchildren to be listed on the membership.

Can I visit before I receive my card or if I lost my card?

Yes, please bring your photo ID to the Admissions Desk to verify your membership.

How do I change my address?

You can change your address by calling 757-727-0900 ext. 718, or by emailing our Membership Manager at rboyd@vasc.org.

Do you reciprocate with other museums & science centers or businesses?

Yes, we participate in the ASTC Passport Program which gives VASC members FREE admission to over 300 participating museums worldwide! Please note that museums within a 90 mile radius of VASC are not included in this benefit.

We have a special program with the Science Museum of Virginia where members of the Virginia Air & Space Center can show their membership card and receive 50% off exhibit admission for up to four people at each visit!

Does VASC reciprocate with Virginia Living Museum or Nauticus?

No, these museums are within a 90 mile radius of VASC, so we do not reciprocate.

How do I sign up to receive the E-Centerline and stay up on all the happenings at VASC?

If you included your email on your membership application nothing further is needed. Send an email to rboyd@vasc.org to sign up.

How many IMAX Tickets do I receive with my membership?

Members who purchase a membership on or after April 1, 2015 receive unlimited Exhibit and IMAX* Admission with the purchase of a membership.

Can I see any film with my membership?

Members can see any IMAX film for free with their membership with the exception of special engagement films.

How long is my membership valid?

Memberships are valid for 1 full year from the end of the month that the membership is purchased. For example, if you purchase a membership on July 9, 2013, your membership won’t expire until July 31, 2014.

Can I upgrade my membership?

Yes, you may upgrade your membership at any time for the difference in cost, however, keep in mind that this will not change the membership expiration date.

Can I transfer my membership to someone else?

No, memberships are non-transferable and are valid for only the names that appear on the card; ID is required.

Can I lend my membership card to a friend or family member?

No, the member whose name appears on the card must be present, ID is required.

Why Do I need to show my ID with my member card?

To protect your benefits as a supporting member, we want to verify your identity when your card is used.

Does the VASC offer any discounts on membership?

Yes, we offer $10 off any membership for NASA, Active Duty Military, Riverside and Newport News Shipbuilding employees. Please bring supporting documents, such as your military photo ID, corporate ID or current pay stub to receive your discount.

We are moving to a different state, can I receive a refund?

No, memberships are non-refundable. However, keep in mind that you may be able to use your membership card at other museums that participate in the ASTC program at your new location.

How many guests can I get in with my membership?

The Individual/Couple and Family level membership does not allow any guests, however, the Family Plus membership allows up to 2 guests, the Supporting Family membership allows 4 guests, and Benefactor membership allows up to 5 guests.

Can I bring different guests each time I visit?

If you have the Family Plus, Supporting Family, or Benefactor membership you are allowed guests with your membership. However, if you have the Individual/Couple or Family level membership and would like to upgrade your membership to bring in guests, you can do so at any time for the difference in cost.

Can I use my membership on a group visit?

No, your membership cannot cover any fees with a group visit, as pricing is given based on the total number of people in the group.
