Job Description: Housekeeper
Chief Objectives of the Position:
To provide quality housekeeping service for the facility, exhibits and grounds, in compliance with housekeeping standards and procedures, and to provide support for programs and special events.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of housekeeping duties for the facility exhibits and grounds, following proper housekeeping procedures and techniques. Because the Center operates daily and is focused on visitor and program needs, extensive evening and weekend hours are routinely required.
Adheres to very high standards for overall cleanliness and appearance of facility and exhibits.
Duties include sweeping, wiping, dusting, waxing, vacuuming, scrubbing, polishing, washing windows, and operating power machines to clean, wash, shampoo carpet, strip, wax, buff and spray buff floors.
Properly uses small hand tools and equipment and a variety of cleaning solutions.
Observes prescribed safety regulations.
Follows proper facility and exhibit maintenance procedures.
Provides housekeeping support for programs and special events, including set-up, breakdown and proper handling and storage of banquet furniture.
Must be able to understand and follow written or oral instructions and communicate effectively with colleagues and visitors.
Must perform tasks on facility grounds during all types of weather. Must be flexible and willing to take initiative in identifying and performing work that needs to be done.
Reports to the Facility Manager.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Must possess the physical ability to perform tasks requiring continuous walking, standing, stooping, moving objects, and climbing short ladders. Required qualifications and experience include physical strength and stamina, the ability to follow directions, and demonstrated ability to work successfully with teammates and independent of intensive supervision. Previous housekeeping experience helpful.
